Review of The Transporter (2002) by Claire W — 01 Jun 2010
There are plenty of good action scenes in the film. These scenes are well directed with a distinctly European flavour that rises from mixing James Bond and Asian action pictures. Unfortunately, this comes at the cost of narrative cohesion, as the film is overloaded with these action sequences that aren't paced appropriately throughout the running time, eliminating all dramatic tension.
Jason Statham is effective and understated (all action heroes are) in the title role as an ex-special forces operative turned "Transporter" (although I had trouble placing his accent), and the film does have a decent sense of humour.
Stylish but ultimately mindless fun.
