Review of The Transporter (2002) by Halimali H — 28 May 2010
The story revolves around the Transporter Frank Martin (Jason Statham) whose job is to transport goods or people from a place to another without asking questions. The movie starts with him transporting a gang of bank robbers showing how he is professional in his job. One day one of his transporting goods appear to be moving. Frank violates one of his rules and looks inside the bag to find a gagged living woman. Upon delivering the woman to the owner, the owner knows that Frank has opened the bag and from there the action starts as he tries to get rid of Frank. Frank then gets to know the secret behind the woman.
The Good Stuff:
- Very fast paced story filled with cool actions and big explosions. The movie will entertain action genre lovers.
The Neutral Stuff:
- Acting by Jason Statham was OK too but nothing special. The movie does not give the actor to show his acting capabilities. But he has shown some appropriate elements of acting for the character he was playing.
The Bad Stuff:
- The story of a transporter with his own rules is good to watch but that's a small part of the movie only. The remaining part you do not have much of story going on. All what you would see explosions here and there.
Some Interesting Facts:
- The movie has generated over $43M at the box office from its $21M budget.
- Most of the stunts were done by Jason Statham himself.
A Cool Quote:
"You're always complaining, except when we make love. Then you say nothing.".
I enjoyed watching the movie even though it does not have any substance or a twisting story. Overall it was a decent action flick.
Final Verdict: Recommended.
