Review of The Transformers: The Movie (1986) by Jake C — 14 Jan 2010
Pulled this one out of the vault for my 3yr old the other day. Probably hadn't seen this movie since I was 7 or 8. All I could remember about this one was crying when OP died. Don't worry if you haven't seen it I didn't ruin anything for you! He dies like in the first 15 or 20 minutes. The question I have is why! why why why! OP shouldn't have fallen, just sayin'.
Anyway, something I didn't remember though was that this whole movie is like a bad 80s rock animated musical! Nothing but crappy 80s music throughout the entire movie. Really could have done with a normal soundtrack. But, I'll be honest my kid had to go to bed about half way through the movie...Yeah, I finished watching it. I don't know if it's just plain stupid reminiscence of a child hood long gone, but I LOVE THIS MOVIE! So kill me this movie was great. Would I tell you this is a must see...no I don't want to be ridiculed for telling you to watch a terrible movie. But if you love Transformers, or your kids love tranformers, see, this movie! Luckily since it seems that no one reads this, and if they do no one says anything, I don't have to worry about being told I'm an idiot, but see this movie! Awesome, really brought me back! 5 stars! It's my post I can do what I want!
Some of the characters won't be as familiar to you, if they're familiar at all. The voice acting in this movie is great. Orson Wells, Leonard Nimoy, and Peter Cullen. Wait! Who's Peter Cullen? He was the original voice of OP, and he's voicing him in both the new Live Action Transformers movies. And he is the only voice that I could ever stomach hearing as OP. Hearing someone else would be one of the greatest tragedies of our time! Anyway, I have a BS in ranting, so I'll stop now. See it...Good movie, it'll really bring you back.
