Review of The Transformers: The Movie (1986) by Jeremai W — 29 Sep 2016
Enjoyable film, that while dated, still works for Transformers fans as one of the first American animated movies to push the PG rating with it's more mature story-line & violence (I still remember being freaked out as a kid when many of my favorite cartoon characters started being killed off).
As an adult, the plot-holes & animation faults are much more noticeable, though it also stands out on how to adapt a TV show into a movie, as it's about big events & real change with the characters & universe (those same deaths that freaked me out also gave the film its resonance).
While I do enjoy the Michael Bay films, this is still my personal favorite Transformers movie.
