Review of The Tracey Fragments (2007) by Carlos Z — 10 Jul 2008
"The Tracey Fragments" is appropriately named, as the plot and the frames are jagged little pieces that are hodgepodgely put together. Ellen Page gives another sickly natural performance as the tormented Tracey Berkowitz.
At times the film is crazy weird and confusing, which makes it difficult to figure out what is real and what is fantasy, especially when Billy Zero (Slim Twig) or drag queen psychiatrist Dr. Heker (Julian Richings) shows up.
The mixed up timeline and images make it hard to absorb the little details, but the big picture is depressingly beautiful and clear.
