Review of The Toxic Avenger (1984) by Brandon M — 12 Jan 2008

This is a bit crap and silly. I was stoned when I watched it so it was enjoyable but I don't remember much about it except for the tragic lack of violence. There were some proper minging bits where he transforms due to toxic waste and some of the film is brutal but I got the impression that much of the violence was held back or cut altogether. This is worth a watch for its crap tacky humour but repeat visits unlikely. Having now watched the director's cut I would say that the glee from this film is from the insane violence. It is the legend that makes this film so good but also terrible.

In one word: Alright.
