Review of The Toxic Avenger (1984) by Craig W — 08 Jun 2012
âMeet little Melvin, he's a 90 lb. weakling. Everyone hated Melvinâ?
Before I start this review let me say I LOVE A GOOD B-MOVIEso this review will be bias and I also love a good cheesy B-movie. So if you donâ(TM)t like B-movies and cheesy movies THE TOXIC AVENGER isnâ(TM)t for you. Writer and and one of the B-movie legends Lloyd Kaufman brings us NEW JERSEYâ(TM)S first super hero THE TOXIC AVENGER. This is the story of Melvin, the Tromaville Health Club mop boy, who inadvertently and naively trusts the hedonistic, contemptuous and vain health club members, to the point of accidentally ending up in a vat of toxic waste. The devastating results then have a transmogrification effect, his alter ego is released, and THE TOXIC AVENGER is born, to deadly and comical results. The local mop boy is now the local Superhero.
THE TOXIC AVENGER is a pure 80â(TM)s B-movie classic and has every thing that makes B-movie stand out over the top gore, cheesiness, cheap music, a outrageous story, crazy propsâ¦.oh and how can I forget lots of nudity and boobies (so if you donâ(TM)t like all these thing you wonâ(TM)t like THE TOXIC AVENGER).
THE TOXIC AVENGER is a B-movie classic and there are 5 movies, a animated series, comic books, a musicalâ¦yes a musical, and talk of a remake....cheers and happy watching.
