Review of The Town That Dreaded Sundown (1976) by Grant H — 16 Oct 2014
Decent movie. While it has some good suspense and impressive camerawork, the film veers from the true-story-micro-budget-slasher to comedic relief moments way too many times. Adding some comedy here and there is okay, but having a bumbling patrolman drive a car too fast and send it into a pond is just too much for this kind of film.
In addition to the poor comedy, the sound editing could use some work, making a scream stay consistently loud rather than different levels at different angles, and the performances need major improvement, the victims' pleas for help coming off as nowhere near convincing.
