Review of The Tortured (2010) by Richard S — 01 Mar 2013
A decent enough torture-porn film, The Tortured attempts to use the genre to tackle ethical issues in a manner similar to the Saw franchise and achieves relative success. While no where near as insightful or intelligent as it thinks it is, The Tortured does take a turn that makes one stop and think about the ethics of torture and execution.
Essentially a revenge torture film, The Tortured doesn't quite ascend to the philosophical heights to which it aspires, but solid acting from the lead duo and from horror icon Bill Moseley make this an entertaining film for fans of the genre.
