Review of The Tingler (1959) by Jehy T — 05 Nov 2008
Okay, the plot is probably one of the stupidest things I've ever seen, but the acting was really phenomenal. I mean our generation has come to expect these earlier movies to be a bit dramatic and hokey, but even those aspects were toned down.
I really had fun with this one, and as the man said, not just to make fun.
I think the thing I liked the most about this movie was Vincent Price's character. He always plays wronged characters out for a bit of revenge, or have gone mad. But Chapin seems to genuinely care and even allows himself some genuine laughter. A decent guy. Down to earth.
