Review of The Times of Harvey Milk (1984) by Annathena G — 01 Jun 2009
A great activist movie supported and built on live footage that include video stills, voice recordings or paper cut-outs. A purpose of focusing on authenticity of facts and text materials is prevalent and in contrast to Milk, this documentary rivets on the post-assassination mass response from the world which was hoping and breathing for justice.
A movie following the course of his political activities and campaigns, it has eluded from his private life, or from descriptions of his personality, a theme strongly coerced in the movie Milk, giving us a larger understanding of what he stood for.
The wrap up of the movie leaves us wondering what form of remedial action is apt for a victim of stress, or perhaps a murderer who has claimed the lives of two for revenge.
