I haven't seen the Sean Penn version of Milk, but I always prefer to see a real documentary if available. Not having known the history of Harvey Milk, I was pretty surprised at what happened to him.
This movie gives a sense of the gay communities struggle to be treated as equals and the even greater forces driving to supress them.
