Review of The Time Traveler's Wife (2009) by Michael P — 19 Mar 2011
I held off on seeing this, primarily due to the reviews. I wish I hadn't. I decided that since the majority of the audience in here enjoyed, I might just as well. And I did. I really really liked this movie.
It's different than anything I've seen. Definitely a love story, first and foremost. Eric Bana and Rachel McAdams are both just so likeable in every way, and they were outstanding together. Terrific chemistry.
The genre is sci-fi, and it's true that you do have to have a bit of sci-fi imagination to make it work (those who are confused may not be used to this type of story, but it really wasn't that hard to think my way through what was happening).
Once you begin to believe in the possibility, after a while you forget that this actually is a sci-fi movie and just enjoy the flow of the story. It's quite beautiful in several ways. But I just love the fact that it isn't the same old thing we've seen rehashed a hundred different ways.
Totally loved the characters, and feel like I almost know them now. It is truly unique and I honestly found a lot to love about this movie.
