Review of The Time Traveler's Wife (2009) by Patrick L — 02 Jul 2012
Eric Bana and Rachel McAdams star in this film about a time traveler who loves a woman who must wait for him to return when he leaves unexpectedly. A bit creepy is when he travels to meet her as a little girl. The science or science fiction of the time traveling is never explained as I recall (not that it needs to be).
This is considerably different from "Somewhere in Time", the other time-travel romance that I am familiar with.
The film is rather unstructured and somewhat hard to follow. Rachel is stunning in many of her scenes, sultry even, during the couple's first date (Henry - the time traveler - doesn't know who she is when she appears to him though she knows him quite well). The movie tends to become surreal as the couple marries, experiences miscarriages, then Clair has relations with Henry at a younger age in order to become pregnant. 8/10.
