I loved the book and now I love the movie too. A critic might have described it as romantic hooey, but that's the point! It is a love story!
There are some minor tweaks to the story from the book to fit for movie time, and the main events are present and correct. For example the meadow of Clare's childhood is warmly filmed in golden hues. I might have shed a tear or two at the end ...
