Review of The Time That Remains (2009) by Chris M — 25 Nov 2010
I found this one really difficult, As noted by other reviewers, a lot of the references are lost on 'outsiders'. A personal chronicle of a life lived in Nazareth, seen as comedy of the bitterest sort, The lousy subtitles I finally found for it didn't make comprehension easier, and yet, still, I don't think it's a good film.
Characters are two-dimensional, and needless to say, Jewish Israel is portrayed as a brutal and stupid military oppressor which uses overwhelming force to disempower the Arab community. Depressing.
