Review of The Time Machine (1960) by Mckenna M — 02 Feb 2008
This movie freaked me out as a kid! Let's just say Morlocks and I don't get a long. Now though I find this movie enjoyable to watch as a classic Sci-Fi adventure. The costumes are impressive, strictly Morlock speaking, but some of the historic and futuristic costumes are done very well too.
The acting is great especially the Eloi cast and you can't help but be as annoyed at them as the main character is at first. Special effects are decent, but what is really impressive is the time lapse photography.
It's cool to watch and isn't overly used, so it doesn't get old or annoying. A couple of bad minatures do plague this film though, but everything else is hardly noticable if your just trying to watch a good old film.
Very impressive and thankfully much more faithful to the story then the original War of the Worlds was, even if there are some chapters missing. So if you've got plenty of time, feel free to watch this movie.
