Review of The Time Machine (1960) by Paul P — 04 Jun 2008
Fed up with the majority of crap out today, I figured I'd review this 60's gem and bring it to the attention of others appreciative of film before 1980. This is just a complete sci-fi classic with excellent direction, acting, storytelling, romance, characters, special effects, action, and film score.
It's a full package of everything I love about movies and the appreciation I have for old classics like this which were far less cynical, and knew how to keep things simple. It puts the 2002 remake of the same name to an absolute shame despite that films modern day costume and special effects advancements.
This is the kind of old time cinematic excitement and escapism that deepened my love for the medium and remains one of my favorite movies. It's a pure charmer. Rod Taylor is also perfect, as he's always been.
