Not certain why it's knocked so much. Unless it the old, don't fix what isn't broken. I liked the movie, though no more or less than the '93 version. I can definitely agree that Orlando Bloom got a bit carried away with his character and was definitely getting annoying by the end.
I'd actually be interested in seeing the sequel the end hinted at but considering how bad it did I doubt it'll be made.
