Review of The Three Musketeers (1948) by Alex P — 31 Jul 2007
By far the best of the many versions - the Dick Lester version (and it's sequel) are fun, and perhaps more tightly paced, but this version wins hands down for the inspired casting of Gene Kelly as D'Artagnan.
He steals the show as a cocky newcomer, and shows off his physical skills in a collection of wonderful set-pieces, both with swordsmanship and adventuring.
Definitely a must see!
