Review of The Three Burials of Melquiades Estrada (2005) by Vig S — 07 Mar 2008
A very interesting film to watch - I was expecting something entirely different before I sat down to watch this one. The journey undertaken by Pete, the patrolman and the body of Melquiades undergo not only a physical journey to find Jiminez - the small village where Melquiades was born and raised - but they undergo quite the spiritual journey, and seem to discover not only a bit of themselves along the way, but a bit more about the nature of humanity.
I reckon that I would benefit from a second viewing a bit more, but as it stands I still think that it was a surprisingly heartfelt film masked behind a slow-paced Western.
