CONSENSUS: A powerful tale of loyalty, morality, prejudice, and redemption with Jones lighting up on both ends of the camera. Conservative in his character approach (similar to that of NO COUNTRY FOR OLD MEN, but more violent), Jones offers a kind of reserved masculinity.

The intercut presentation is both a pro and a con, adding depth to some aspects of the film while distracting from others. However, such style gives the film the relentless, obsessive quality possessed by its main character and the audience feels a sense of peace (as does Jones) as the credits begin to roll.

A modern Texas western that is timely in subject matter, making it one of the best films of 2005. MY GRADE: A-.
