Review of The Thomas Crown Affair (1999) by John H — 09 Nov 2010
Outstanding re-make of Norman Jewison's 1960s romantic thriller which starred Steve McQueen and Faye Dunaway which this time sees Pierce Brosnan and Rene Russo in the leads. This version is actually much better than the quite thin original.
Very well written by Kurt Wimmer it's also superbly directed by John McTiernan.Brosnan and Russo are both outstanding in the leads, especially Russo, and they have amazing chemistry together. This is smart, flawless escapist entertainment made by adults for adults and along with Steven Soderbergh's OUT OF SIGHT stands as the benchmark for this kind of film.
