Review of The Thirteenth Floor (1999) by Shaun B — 19 Mar 2013
Pure 1990s techno-cheese that's a bit smarter than your average sci-fi flick (especially involving virtual reality...a small subgenre full of mostly shit). The story and plot are both fun and easy to follow.
The poor man's MATRIX vibe was kinda cool but the film becomes bogged down in a rather typical romantic subplot along with a few egregious Hollywood cliches and a letdown of an ending. At least that's coming from my perspective.
It's a fun diversion that doesn't add up to much other than a popcorn movie night. Don't assume it's anything more or you'll be bitterly disappointed as I.
