Review of The Third Man (1949) by Jacob G — 09 Oct 2010
Full-on bonafide masterpiece. The scenario is simple enough to imagine: man gets an ambiguous job offer from an old friend. Being jobless and penniless, he accepts and flies over. However, upon arriving, he realizes that his friend is dead....
And thus Holly Martins is swept into a whirlwind mystery... one that sounds ok on the surface, but as he performs his own little investigation, things just don't add up.
There is something marvelously Agatha Christie-esque about the story as it twists and turns and keeps the viewer guessing.
