It's a slow burner, but stick with it - things pick up after Orson Welles makes his iconic entrance, smirking in a doorway in a shard of light. The final sewer chase scenes are electrifying and a lesson for all action directors: you don't need cars, CGI and stuntmen to make a thrilling chase - you just need a tunnel, some backlighting and a man in a trilby.
