The most beautiful film noir I've seen. The way darkness shrouds this film would awaken even the most passive movie watcher to the concept of cinematography, and Sir Carol Reed picks the shots/angles that will echo in your memory.

Great acting and dialogue too (Orson Welles is a perfect fit), but this film has been a classic for 60 years because of its visual statements. When a film stays suspenseful despite a jolly soundtrack, you know you're watching a visual masterpiece.
