Review of The Third Man (1949) by Ryan Gibbons — 07 Sep 2010
A compelling and exciting murder mystery that starts off strong and never runs out of steam. Why is this film so associated with Orson Welles? he's got maybe 10 minutes of screen time all together, it's a well written character Harry Lime is, But Welles is unconvincing, probably one of the most overrated figures in cinematic history.
The film pretty much belongs to Joseph Cotten, his performance is very convincing and goes on the verge of brilliance. The Third Man is a beautifully shot mystery that is a lot like a story that some of the great mystery writers would create.
Even with Orson Welles taking up space.
