Review of The Thing from Another World (1951) by Davey M — 13 Feb 2008
Wondrous sci-fi horror picture. Hawks isn't actually billed as director, but clearly he was instrumental in bringing the story as it is to the screen, and it belongs with the rest of his filmography.
Strong characterizations, breathless pacing, fast-paced and flavorful dialogue, and the filmmaker's singularly romantic, action-packed sensibility. Also of note: Margaret Sheriden's heroine is magnificent as the strong woman in a world of men.
