Review of The Thing from Another World (1951) by Anthony L — 11 Oct 2010
Most people will be familiar with John Carpenters take on this classic story inspired by John.W.Campbell, jr's "Who goes there?" however for me it is still this Howard Hawk produced(some say even directed)'51 sci-fi chiller... A kind of antidote to The day the earth stood still with its message of peace and working together, The Thing from another world is the flipside to that coin and ponders about the real intentions of our friends from outter space...
A well made, well acted and simple yet chillingly effective B-movie is still very enjoyable to watch and suprisingly still maintains its original errie atmosphere.Brilliant.
