Review of The Thing (2011) by Brian H — 01 Jul 2013
This movie is so ridiculously stupid that it makes me offended that I'm a fan of the 1982 film of the same name. The Thing (the bad one) if a perfect example of why Hollywood should stop making sequels, prequels and remakes to classics.
This is a prequel to the 1982 The Thing, one of the scariest movies of all time. First off, the CGI looks terrible, it really does. The prosthetic monster from John Carpenter's looks more real than this cluster of horrible affects.
The film does manage to hold the suspenseful, thrilling moments of the original. But, instead of leading up to a horribly mutated disfigured monster, it leads to a poorly rendered CGI creature that provides no scares what so ever.
If you watch this before the 80's one, you might enjoy it, but I would recommend watching the good one, and skipping this one all together.
