Review of The Thing (2011) by Philip S — 27 Jan 2015
It doesn't stray too far from the original, but it doesn't provide nearly enough suspense or intrigue. I was a bit confused as to whether this was actually a prequel to the cult classic, but I was pleased to discover that the two stories do align.
That said, this was a wasted opportunity to add colour to the original. What we get is a bit more back story on the creature, but it turns out to be a bit silly, really. In the end, it feels like a re-hashing of the original and leaves me wondering what might have been.
Fans of the original are most likely to appreciate it.
