Ridiculously redundant. There is nothing remotely fresh or surprising in this "gore for the sake of gore" yawn-fest. The effects are more comical than frightening. In the end, did you really care who was an alien and who wasn't? I certainly did not.
Just in case you were curious, I believe the title phrase was used approx 5 times: "What is that Thing?" etc. This Thing, in my opinion, was a joke.
