Incompetent retread of the masterful Carpenter shocker. Utterly pointless- the story can be deduced from the evidence on display in opening bars of The Thing (1982). The ambiguity of that situation fuels the predecessor's tension; a prequel that is little more than a lazy remake results in a companion piece that undermines a classic.
