Aside from a good performance by Mary Elizabeth Winstead, The Thing 2011 is a shameless prequel that tries to incorporate story while having bland characters, no thrills or even remotely scary moments and visual effects that look ten years out of date.
It's a dull, poorly constructed movie and a desecration of the legacy of the '82 movie.
