"Matthijs van Heijningen's" The Thing reminds us that genius cannot be copied. The 2011 quasi remake/prequel of John Carpenter's classic plays the same tricks but less skillfully. The human actors are boring and do not develop organically.
Mary Elizabeth Winstead attempts to play the "warrior leader" role originally portrayed by Kurt Russel, but lacks the gravitas to be taken seriously, either by her co-actors or the audience.
