The Thing (2011) is a prequel that stays true to its predecessor and provides more of the suspense and thrills that made the 1982 Carpenter film memorable. However the film does often feel like a retread of said film and it relies a bit too heavily on CGI.
Overall, The Thing (2011) is plenty of fun even though you have seen it done better before.
