Review of The Thing (2011) by Eoghan C — 11 Apr 2014
Prequels to horror flicks (including remakes) rarely work, this is one of them. It just feels like the John Carpenter remake but with boring acting, predictable script, direct-to-DVD style visual effects, and the references to the one that we rather be watching are forced (including the scene where an axe flies to the wall and one of the characters told the other to leave it).
The only prequels I've seen that work are video games. They were only made for the fans and to answer questions that they may have asked. This doesn't answer the questions the fans asked, it just gives you answers to questions that were never asked.
