Review of The Thing (1982) by Jon W — 07 Jul 2012
Lambasted in it's day (like much of Carpenter's work) but recognized as a classic today (also like most of Carpenter's work). This is a gross-out film meets paranoid thriller. The music and isolated Antarctic location help to create a haunting and unsettling atmosphere.
And the ending is great, as we don't really know if our heroes are still in fact human. If it weren't for Halloween, this would be Carpenter's finest film.
