Review of The Thing (1982) by Gardner R — 11 Nov 2012
Considered to be the greatest horror film ever, John Carpenter's Horror Masterpiece is a film that will live forever in my heart, and many others I can believe. What separates this film from all the others, is the bleak, hopeless, alone atmosphere that the movie projects. The movie also f***s with your mind with an overwhelming sense of paranoia that can clearly be seen in the movie, and how it affects each individual of the characters in the movie. Aside from the film being a horror film, it tends to also lean on a social drama like I explained earlier. This was also the first film that truly scared me, probably because I first witnessed it when I was eight. One last thing was that the music (Composed by Ennio Morricone) really helped add to that sort of Dark atmosphere like I explained earlier. Overall, this film is an excellent piece of cinema horror, that just more new-age scary films just pathetically lack. So do yourself a favor and sit down and enjoy this fine film directed by Horror Meister, John Carpenter.
