Eerie, terrifying, disgusting, and driven by paranoia. Shows great attention to detail and great use of practical effects while staying very true to the Novella which it is based off of. Also, not to mention one of the most bleak and thought provoking endings I've ever seen.
Undoubtedly John Carpenter at his best and one of the greatest horror movies ever made.
