Review of The Thing (1982) by Rob R — 07 Aug 2016
John Carpenter's The Thing is a stepping stone in science fiction special effects since its 1982 release. The makeup and gore is outstanding for the time period, even though it slightly mimics The Evil Dead (1981) design.
Starring Kurt Russell as a helicopter pilot of an American science research team in Antarctica; the team comes across a mysterious alien presence that is able to perfectly imitate human organisms, causing a rift of paranoia and distrust among the team.
Chaos ensues. This slow-paced thriller throws gruesome gore at you during the best sequences that offers shock and laughter. B.
