Review of The Thin Red Line (1998) by Elan H — 26 May 2012
I will keep it short, this film is good enough to have my recomendation. it is, just like all the other reviewers have said, which is surprising considering most of them have terrible taste, one of the best war films and best films for that matter, ever made.
there is one thign I will say though about it, the only flaw in it that I could find, and that is an amazing thing, but it is that john travolta, an actor who has only been natural in a few of his numerous roles, is completely unbeliveable as the officer in the begginig of the movie.
things like this can be said to ruin a movie. but it did not ruin this movie. this movie is too goood to be ruined by a small thign like this. nevertheless , it is so. I imagine he was only put in the position of this cameo because this film is so recently after pulp fiction, and maybe malick needed star power? who knows.
it is unfortunate though, that this flaw is in the film, considering that otherwise, there is literally no, although clooney does come close, I repeat no bad acting in the movie from any of the numerosu extras and multiple stars and co stars, and that the reason this movie is so good is it's extremely flawless level of realism.
