Review of The Thin Red Line (1998) by Kman5473 — 14 Mar 2019
A film about the subjective and emotional impressions of war by the men that fought on the front lines and watched their friends die. An epic. A beautiful, heart-wrenching and heart-breaking film. One of the best anti-war films ever made.
The duality between Malick's gorgeous cinematography and direction, and the gruesome devastating nature of war succeeds better than nearly any other picture with anti-war messages. My only criticism is that the third act of this film seems to dwell a lot.
We have the battle for Guadalcanal, followed by another hour of a mix between what I would consider incredible and pandering. I do think, though, if you love film and are a history buff, give this a shot.
