Review of The Thin Man (1934) by Anita T — 02 Jul 2007
I'd never seen William Powell in a film before this one, but having seen his performance as Nick Charles has instantly made me a fan. I loved the novel, as I do all of Hammett's work, and didn't think the film would be able to reach my expectations, but it came surprisingly close.
Very well-done adaptation that managed to include all the important plot details (and there were a LOT of them) without overly confusing viewers who hadn't read the book. If you like 1930s detective films, you'll love this one.
