Review of The Thin Man (1934) by Jack W — 08 Feb 2011
What a wonderful blending of two genres, the detective thriller mixed with a comedy. The narrative has you guessing to the very end and the partnership of Powell and Loy, one of Hollywood's most prolific ever makes the comedy shine through the entire film.
Loy is stunning and the perfect foil to Powell's lead and he is suave, debonair and brilliant in the role of Nick Charles. I wonder why the team of Powell and Loy is not as well recognized as some other great pairings, like Astaire and Rogers.
They are just as entertaining. Maybe they were just in films that aren't as visually memorable. Still, great film.
