Review of The Thin Blue Line (1988) by Robin E — 23 May 2011
Extraordinary and legendary documentary from Errol Morris. I would venture to say it is much more than a documentary, it is a masterpiece of filmmaking that obscures truths and tells a multi-layered story through words, images, and colors.
There is so much complexity it is easy to simply get lost in the film, regardless of what you think about the case. The haunting score by Philip Glass is superb. The fact that the film inspired the retrial of this case goes to show how powerful the film is.
