Review of The Thin Blue Line (1988) by Eric R — 12 Sep 2011
The film that put Errol Morris on the map, The Thin Blue Line, examines the trial and conviction of Randall Adams a man who was wrongfully accused for the murder of a Police Officer in Dallas, Texas. It's mostly a talking head's type of documentary with tons of interviews from eyewitnesses, police officers and Randall Adams himself.
The film repeatedly goes back to an stylized film noirish reenactment of the crime throughout the film, but its mostly interviews and various still images which create this truly fascinating in-depth look at a crime and how a man was wrongfully accused.
Not the most exciting or groundbreaking documentary in terms of structure or aesthetic, but its very detailed and endlessly fascinating.
