Review of The Thief of Bagdad (1940) by Jorge C — 06 Jan 2009
What a perfect film. Totally imaginative, groundbreaking, funny, touching; a true epic. J.R.R. Tolkien owes Alexander Korda and anyone else involved in the making of this film a huge amount of cash: the giant spider, the all-seeing eye, even the orc-looking creatures seem to have suddenly, inexplicably appeared in 'Lord of the Rings'.
And I used to say 'Lord of the Rings' was unoriginal just out of spite. Regardless, though, this is an amazing movie.
