Review of The Theory of Everything (2014) by James O — 18 Mar 2015
The Theory of Everything is directed by James Marsh and stars Eddie Redmayne as Stephen Hawking and Felicity Jones as Jane Hawking. The movie takes a deeper look into the life and family of Stephen Hawking, a theoretical physicist which was diagnosed with ALS while still in college. What impressed me the most about the story is that there were so many times in his life where it would have been so much easier to give in, to quit. Even when he contemplated his own suicide, he somehow found the perseverance to keep going. The movie also does a wonderful job exploring the challenges of being in a relationship with someone that may be physically challenged. How the caring for someone who needs more attention can change the dynamics of the relationships. A very touching story that doesn't sugar coat the challenges they went through as a couple.
I had a block on seeing this movie, but I am glad that I pulled the trigger. If it is still in a theater near you, go see and let me know what you think.
